By accessing or using Backfile (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Backfile is an AI-powered debate preparation tool that helps competitive policy debaters parse, search, and organize their debate files. The Service is intended for preparation use only and is not designed for in-round assistance.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

4. Subscription and Payment

Subscriptions are billed annually. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and your access will continue through the end of your current billing period. Refunds are provided at our discretion.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the Service. You may not attempt to reverse-engineer any aspect of the Service.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all documents you upload. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. The Service itself, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Backfile.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. In no event shall Backfile be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
